I has been almost a year since my last LP release - „Syd". Since then, nothing has really changed. I am still a happy Polish guy living in Copenhagen, waking up every day in the same room I make music in. Only sometimes I hit the road with my favourite band Bitamina.
After exploring the wide range of African music and how it can be translated into my way of composing, I decided to go a step further and use the same sampled material, but looking at it from the Scandinavian point of view using my experience of playing with musicians from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland for the last 7 years.
In the "North" there is more space, a tiny bit of anxiety that spices up the warm sounding samples (which some of you might already know pretty well from „Syd”), some more modern and less organic sound design. There is something that I just can't explain in words, something like all my associations to living in the north come together - Sometimes it’s cold but it’s also pretty hyggeligt.
It’s like this little guy in the artwork. It might be nice and warm before jumping into the cold water, but if he never jumps he will never found out what it’s like to freeze his butt off in the first 5 minutes but after that just enjoy the journey of diving under the surface.
